ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jean Davidson is an artist who works in various mediums.  She has not had a traditional art school education but has taken classes and workshops and has studied extensively to develop her skills.  She likes to explore new ideas that challenge her creativity.  She has worked in collage, pastel, acrylics, pen and ink, watercolor, photography, and printmaking with an emphasis on monotype (monoprint) and block printing.  Most of her work is done in watercolor and monotype because of the many unexpected surprises the two techniques allow.

Jean is a member of five art associations, a camera club and the Print Making Council of New Jersey.  She has held a wide variety of positions in a number of these groups and was president of two of them.

The artist has had several one woman shows and has shown work in many juried exhibits in New Jersey, which include the Paper Mill Gallery in Millburn, the Ben Shawn Gallery at William Patterson University  She has also been an invited exhibitor with the yearly Wilson School Exhibit in Mountain Lakes for eleven years.  Jean Davidson has won awards for watercolor, monoprints, collage, pastel and photography.
